It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Webster Volunteer Fire Department member Charles "Chuck" Wheaton Styles.

Webster: Passed away peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2023, age 87. Predeceased by parents, Morris and Mary Styles; sisters, Mary Ellen Capone and Carolyn Housel. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha Ann Schudt Styles and their children, Nan (Henry) Nesbitt and Jen (Matt) Zuercher of Edwardsville, IL; grandchildren, Kate, Sarah and Sam Nesbitt, Owen, Elliott and Abby Zuercher; sisters, Sally Sullivan of Weymouth, MA and Maurene North of Penfield.

Chuck was born March 12, 1936 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester. Growing up, he held jobs delivering, on his bicycle, for Cramer Drug, and both the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle and the Times Union, and later worked in the corner grocery store. He always had a job from the time he was 12 years old until he retired. He graduated from Aquinas Institute in1954 and Rochester Institute of Technology, with a degree in print management, in 1960. While in college he worked part time for Lawyers Co-op Publishing, and full time for Case-Hoyt Corp. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, serving in Paris, France and Frankfort, Germany (1957- 1959). After military service he went to work at Case-Hoyt Corp. (1959 - 1969), Xerox Corp. (1969 - 1971) and Eastman Kodak (1971 -1991). Upon retirement, he became a volunteer Medical Tech for the Union Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. (1991 - 2000) and then Fire Policeman for the Webster Volunteer Fire Dept. (2000 - 2012).

Throughout his life, Chuck served his community in many volunteer activities. As a youth, he served as an altar boy for his church (St. Augustines) for five years. After his military service, Chuck served on the Board and as President of the Case-Hoyt Employee Social Association. Upon moving to Webster, he served in many volunteer activities: Webster Central School Board (1982-1989) holding positions of both Vice-President and President during that time. Board of Cooperative Education No. 1 (1988-1993). Webster Community Chest (1985-1988). Town of Webster Planning Board (1988-1990). Board of Assessment (1995-2022). Volunteer Custodian at Immanuel Lutheran Church (1992-1994). Election Inspector and Coordinator for many years in the Town of Webster.

The family will receive friends 4-7 PM Sunday, March19 at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave., Webster. Memorial Service 11:00 AM Monday, March 20 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 131 West Main St., Webster. Interment at the convenience of the family at Webster Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450 or Webster Volunteer Fire Dept., 35 South Ave., Webster, NY 14580
