On Monday, March 2, 2026, the North East Joint Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners recognized EMS Coordinator Sarah Mossey for her contributions to the district and department in 2025.

EMS Coordinator Mossey’s contributions include ensuring all apparatus are properly stocked with required medications. She secured a Certified Instructor Coordinator to assist EMTs who otherwise lack a means to maintain their certification. Mossey also updated EMS worksheets based on member feedback, making them more user-friendly for both EMTs and non-EMT firefighters. She obtained sufficient “Fido Bags” to ensure every engine is equipped to assist pets during emergencies. In addition, she conducted multiple trainings and drills focused on EMS skills and equipment familiarization, with a particular emphasis for non-EMT members. She continued updating training records to track members requiring CPR and EMT-B recertifications and took over as chairperson for the Parade of Lights committee.

The Board of Fire Commissioners awarded EMS Coordinator Sarah Mossey the Recognition of Excellence Award for 2025. The award reads:
