The Webster Volunteer Fire Department Explorer Post #557 is designed to educate young men and women in the field of firefighting operations and the procedures of the Webster Volunteer Fire Department. Explorers work closely with their post advisers and Webster volunteer firefighters with both hands-on and classroom training. Explorers learn the skills required to assist firefighters during training evolutions and emergency incidents. Explorers also learn the skills required to become firefighters in the future. Some of these important skills include fire suppression, search and rescue, mask confidence, ventilation, forcible entry, salvage/overhaul and vehicle extrication.

The Explorer Post generally meets on Monday evenings at 7:00 PM. The current post advisors are Assistant Chief Chris Smith, Captain Steve Andrews, Captain Brian Smith, Lieutenant Ed Dake, Firefighter Mike Nicosia and Firefighter Jake Swingly.
