On February 22 the Webster Volunteer Fire Department received familiarization training in Post Blast Investigations and Explosive Device Response. Sergeant Dave Gutzmer from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office conducted the well attended training. Firefighters were exposed to the different types of explosive devices and their potential for causing extreme damage, injuries and death. The Firefighters were also exposed to the different types of devices they might encounter in the field including blasting caps, pipe bombs, military ordnance and chemical bombs. Sergeant Gutzmer also brought along the EOD "Bomb" suit. You can see from the pictures that Lieutenant Sudore tried on the 80 pound suit and seemed right at home. We owe a big thanks to Sergeant Gutzmer for providing this training.
