It started locally shortly after 1 PM. As forecast, very strong winds battered the region causing widespread damage. The areas of Webster and Penfield within the North East Joint Fire District were not spared. The wind damage was significant and widespread. The Webster Volunteer Fire Department responded to nearly 70 calls within a 6 hour timeframe. Most of the calls were for trees and power lines down. Many streets have been closed and much of the District is without power. A barn owned by Maier Farms on Phillips Road fully collapsed. Several sections of the roof shingles at the District’s Roseland Station on Salt Road were blow off.

Webster Volunteer firefighters continue to staff the stations and will throughout the night.
